Exams are a core task of higher education institutions. They belong to learning and teaching just as students and teachers do. However, many certainties and routines are being challenged by digitisation and artificial intelligence and their impact on our way of life. The lecture series "The Future of Exams: How to Assess in the Future?", organized by the Universities of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) and the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) in autumn 2023 and spring 2024, explores the issue from various perspectives and calls for discussion among peers.
In his keynote, delivered on 17 October 2023 at the FHNW Brugg/Windisch, professor Manu Kapur (ETH Zürich) talks about the core issues of examining and presents tools which help higher education teachers to reflect their own assessment methods.
